Alstom to supply Melbourne with 18 X’Trapolis suburban trains

Alstom Transport has been awarded a contract worth 160 million euros to supply the State of Victoria in southeast Australia with X’Trapolis suburban trains for the City of Melbourne’s metropolitan network. The contract is for 18 X’Trapolis six-car trainsets, which are scheduled for delivery from late 2009. |

Alstom unveils the AGV, its latest very high speed train, capable of reaching a commercial speed of 360 kph

On Tuesday 5 February, Alstom unveiled the prototype of the AGV*, its latest, new generation very high speed train. This single deck, state-of-the-art train incorporates articulated carriages, a technology which contributed to the success of France’s TGV** train, and a new distributed drive system. The AGV has been designed to reach a commercial speed of 360 kph. The AGV already has its first customer: Italy’s new railway operator, NTV***. |

Alstom continues to record a strong activity growth

During the first nine months of 2007/08 (from 1 April to 31 December 2007), Alstom booked orders amounting to €19.9 billion, up by 38% versus the same period of the previous year. Sales at €12.1 billion were up by 21%. |

Argentina chooses Alstom-led consortium to build the first very high speed line in Latin America

The President of the Argentine Republic, Cristina Fernàndez Kirchner, officially announced on 16 January, 2008, that Alstom and its partners IECSA, Emepa, Isolux Corsan have been awarded the first very high speed link project in Latin America, between Buenos Aires, Rosario and Cordoba. This adjudication is a decisive step in the project, before the finalisation and signature of the contract which is scheduled in the next few months. |

With a strong first semester 2007/08, Alstom continues to combine growth and increase in profitability

Between 1st April 2007 and 30th September 2007, Alstom registered a record level of orders (+33%), a strong growth in sales (+21%) and a significant improvement of its income from operations reaching €573 million (+39%), or 7.2% of sales. Alstom recorded a net result of €388 million (+49%) and an exceptionally high free cash flow (€1.2 billion). |
